Gapseal Sash Window Insulation

Gaps around sash windows create cold draughts which in turn leads to chilly rooms and increased heating and energy costs. If you’re looking to eliminate these draughts and save money on your heating bills then Gapseal is a tried and tested sash window gap filler which is designed to seal gaps from 2 to 9mm thickness.

Easy to install, Gapseal requires no adhesives and can be easily removed for maintenance or in the warmer months. Its 'Two-Tone Magnolia™ Colour' compliments windows with a white, cream or light brown finish but the seal can be used in windows of any colour.

The stretchy properties of Gapseal allow it to be inserted into a wide range of gaps which are then completely sealed. Supplied with a free applicator, Gapseal is available in lengths of 10m which is enough to seal around 2 to 3 average sized sash windows.

How does Gapseal work?
Gapseal is made up of thousands of concealed air pockets which allow the sealant to be compressed by almost 90% of its original profile. Stretching the gap filler during installation means it can be placed inside gaps much smaller than its original form. Once the window seal is in the gap it will then expand until it fills the width of the gap thus blocking any draughts from entering your home.

How to fit Gapseal:
Gapseal Window seal has been designed to address difficult gaps of varying thickness and in areas where windows either cannot be opened or have to slide up and down within a frame.
Step 1 - Preparation:
Remove any debris or dirt from the gap between the window and the frame using the applicator provided.
Step 2 – Fitting the Gapseal:
Using the applicator push the end of the Gapseal into the gap on the window frame corner. Then stretch the windows seal as much as necessary to fit into the gap without excessive force. Work a short section at a time and repeat the process over the length of the window gap. The ideal depth is 2-3 mm below the surface of the window frame.
Step 3 – Cutting to size:
Once you have sealed the full window and reached the end of the gap, cut the seal leaving around 1 inch surplus length (this is done to prevent gaps being created at a later stage) using a pair of household scissors and push the seal into the gap using the applicator.
