Traditionally used for serving curries at weddings and festivals in India these eco friendly leaf plates are perfect for picnics, bbq’s, parties, or camping.

Each pack contains 20 extra large party plates which are made using 100% Sal and Siali leaves, from the forests of Orissa, east India.

The disposable plates are completely biodegradable and compostable. When the party is over simply add to the compost heap or dig a hole in the ground and the plates will decompose naturally.

Each Leaf plate is made by stitching large Sal leaves into rounds and measures approximately 30cm in diameter.

Made and traded under Fair Trade conditions.

Leaf plates are an eco friendly alternative to disposable plastic and polystyrene plates that are often used for parties and get-togethers.

Unlike plastic which generally ends up in landfill and takes years to break down, the leaf plates being 100% natural degrade like any other plant matter.

Leaf plate making is a village based industry around the forests of Orissa, east India. Villagers collect the large Sal and Siali leaves and stitch them into rounds. The stitched rounds are then placed in the sun to dry. Each plate is then made by pressing two rounds of leaves together in a machine.

The Leaf Plates are made and traded according to Fair Trade principles and are marketed through several fair trade organisations: ORUPA (Orissa Rural + Urban Producers' Association) and SASHA (Sarba Santhi Ayog).
