The recycled lunchboxes are made by a women's co-operative of over 500 workers based near Manila in The Philippines.

In addition to providing fair wages and working conditions in an area of high unemployment, the cooperative also promotes the importance of education for members' children and provides a scholarship fund to make this possible.
